Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

Dr. Virga was drawn to dentistry because it’s the perfect combination of art and science. Originally, he started out as a biologist, but dentistry checked so many boxes, like the fact that he was able to help people of all ages, that it made the most sense to him to pursue it as a career.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. Virga attended his undergraduate studies at Southampton College Long Island University and completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery at Georgetown University School of Dentistry. His focus has always been on comprehensive digital dentistry, and he was an early adopter of a digital workflow, which is now the standard among dental practices.

Dr. Virga is deeply embedded into the lecturing and continuing education world of dentistry due to his extensive experience and passion. He has been a Visiting Faculty member of Spear Education since 2010, which is an elite group of just over 100 North American dental experts and clinicians who mentors the next generation.

Over the decades, Dr. Virga has completed well over 1,400 hours of continuing education, including the entire Spear Education curriculum. He also remains an active member of several professional organizations, including the:

• American Dental Association
• New York Dental Association
• Spear Education

He’s well known among his peers for the in-person and hands-on seminars, support, and facilitating that he does every year.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Dr. Virga is happily married and has four children and one grandchild. In his free time, he enjoys photography, car racing, traveling, and spending time with his loved ones. An interesting fact about him is that some people claim that he’s an amazing chef, too!
